Columbia, South Carolina – July 05, 2016 – Smart Games are a series of educational computer games that enable players to understand complex non-intuitive phenomena in social interactions, economics, and biological evolution. Biologists Rodolfo Jaffe and Klaus Jaffe launched a campaign seeking community support to raise $7,500 by July 23, 2016. Funds received will be used to open a call for the development of games on biological evolution.
Jaffe is a biologist working as an Adjunct Researcher in Sustainable Development at the Vale Institute of Technology. What he’s participating in is Smart Games to help promote a senior researcher, Klaus Jaffe, who worked for over 35 years in developing simulation models. These models untangle complex non-intuitive relationships in the workings of biological evolution, the dynamics of social aggregates of complex organisms, and the invisible hand described by Adam Smith in economics.
Throughout time, the human mind has developed through natural selection in order to avoid predators and successfully enchant prospective mates. However, this intuition has fundamental flaws. It ignores many complex phenomena such as quantum mechanics, genetic population dynamics in sexual diploid organisms, decision making in ant societies, or the emergence of synergies in economic systems. To understand these complex dynamic systems, scientists created computer simulations to untangle the complex cause-effect feedback loops involved in these processes. The goal of Smart Games is to enable people worldwide to achieve this deep understanding.
