Saudi-Led Air Strikes Kill At Least 21 Civilians in Yemen:

At least 21 civilians were killed in two separate air strikes by the Saudi-led coalition in northern Yemen on Saturday, residents said on Sunday, as fighting intensified in the country before the Muslim Eid al-Adha feast.

At least 15 civilians were killed when war planes struck workers drilling for water in the Beit Saadan area of the Arhab district north of Sanaa…

They said Saudi-led coalition warplanes bombed the site and killed four workers, and then conducted a second bomb run when residents of the village rushed to the scene, killing at least 11 more and wounding 20….

Local media put the number of dead and wounded at the water-drilling site at around 100 and published pictures of burned bodies and mangled equipment. Videos showed workers collecting mutilated bodies and carrying them away in blankets.

In a second attack, residents reported an air strike hit the home of Sheikh Maqbool al-Harmali, a local tribal chief in Hairan district of Hajjah province, killing six civilians.

Fifteen Years After 9/11, Neverending War

Fifteen Years After 9/11, Neverending War:

Today, U.S. military engagement in the Middle East looks increasingly permanent. Despite the White House having formally ended the wars Iraq and Afghanistan, thousands of U.S. troops and contractors remain in both countries. The U.S. is dropping bombs on Iraq and Syria faster than it can make them, and according to the Pentagon, its bombing campaign in Libya has “no end point at this particular moment.” The U.S. is also helping Saudi Arabia wage war in Yemen, in addition to conducting occasional airstrikes in Yemen and Somalia….

Despite the lack of progress, the last 15 years of war have come at a horrific cost.

The Starvation of Yemen

The Starvation of Yemen:

Many Yemenis suffered from hunger before the war, but the war has made conditions dramatically worse for the entire population. All sides have used food as a weapon, but the coalition blockade has had by far the most severe effect on millions of people. Like other modern famines, the one that is being created in Yemen is entirely man-made, and the coalition and its Western backers bear the greatest responsibility for it. It could still be prevented if there were a concerted effort to save Yemen from starvation, but there seems to be very little interest in making that effort. All of the governments with the resources to do this are either oblivious to the need or complicit in creating the catastrophe.

US Drone Strike Kills Six Suspects in Central Yemen

US Drone Strike Kills Six Suspects in Central Yemen:

A US drone strike has attacked and killed six people in central Yemen, in the Wadi Abidah region of Maarib Province. The six were claimed by officials as “armed al-Qaeda suspects,” though none have been identified by name so far.

Officials said that the attack took place “while they were at a meeting in a farm in the area,” suggesting this is the latest of the US “signature strikes” against al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), a type of attack which has killed large numbers of suspects, but most of dubious credibility as threats.

The US is Promoting War Crimes in Yemen

The US is Promoting War Crimes in Yemen:

Saudi Arabia resumed its appalling war in Yemen last week and has already killed dozens more civilians, destroyed a school full of children and leveled a hospital full of sick and injured people. The campaign of indiscriminate killing – though let’s call it what it is: a war crime – has now been going on for almost a year and a half. And the United States bears a large part of the responsibility.
